Family Get Together, a Reunion & Weddings

An amazing place to share with your large groups as there is lots of space for everyone.  We are completely off grid to give you all the modern amenities but we are surrounded by crown land, giving you that true wilderness feel and experience.  Please email us to request a pdf document outlining our wedding package.

Wildlife and Bird Observation

Surrounded by crown land there is an abundance of wildlife right on the property.  However with mountain roads in all directions we are happy to send you in to areas where we see all varieties of wildlife such as black bears, deer, moose, coyotes, beaver and grouse.  A migration stopover for many birds including several artic bound waterfowl and shorebirds. The valley is also a good place to see breeding waterbirds, especially Barrow’s Goldeneye, Horned Grebe, Canada Goose, Mallard and Spotted Sandpiper.

Hiking and Mountain Biking

There are several trails around the property that can reach elevations of up to over 5,700 ft.  We have the Ruddocks Grind – a rather difficult 3-5 hour hike starting right behind the lodge.  The Old Irrigation Trail which is also located just in behind the lodge – an easy to moderate hike which is approximately 1.5 km. long.  The Old Bike Trail is several kilometer’s long, with lovely views of the meadow, which is more of an intermediate hike.  There are also endless trails to explore off property on the crown land surrounding Ruddocks.  The trails off property would be better suited to mountain biking.

You can also use the ranch as a base and do several hikes across the Fraser River at the Stein and adjoining peak.

At all times be aware of your surroundings!  We have seen bears and mountain lions on our property.

Snowshoeing and Cross-Country Skiing

We are an all season destination and visiting in the winter months is spectacular with crisp air and a blanket of fresh snow covering the land.  With Lytton weather being quite dry you are assured of many beautiful blue sky days to enjoy your winter activities.

Hunting

Lodging is available for hunters throughout our season from April to November.  Ruddocks Ranch – Onion Lake is surrounded by crown land, specifically area 317. You can find mule deer, mountain sheep, black bears and game birds to name a few.  Check your government hunting regulations for specific openings.

Catch and Release Ice Fishing

Grab your chairs, sit back and try some ice fishing.  Spectacular snow capped mountain views to enjoy with hot drinks.  What a great way to relax and unwind from your busy life.

Things to do in Lytton or Lillooet

Spend an extra day at Ruddocks by checking out Kumsheen Rafting Resort in Lytton.  There are two wineries in Lillooet, Fort Berens Estate Winery offering award winning wines for tasting and to purchase.  They also offer amazing meals.  Cliff and Gorge offers wine tasting with an option to take a lovely hike on their property.  Stop in at Buy-Low Foods and grab your own charcuterie to bring to the tasting at Cliff and Gorge.
